I've been a user of Firecut for several months and at first I really loved the plug-in and was very happy with it, as it saved me a lot of time with captions and has a great translation feature. However, as time has gone on, I feel like while there have been some great improvements, there are still some core issues that need to be addressed. Firstly, the placement of captions on the timeline is, most of the time, very inaccurate and does not align with the cuts in the video track. Meaning, I have to go in and manually readjust every single caption to align with the cuts in the video so that captions do not come in too early/late. This becomes a huge time suck and I feel like this issue has been there since the very beginning. Secondly, while the newer updates have made editing captions more convenient by replacing the edited caption on the same layer, I have noticed that a lot of the time, the new caption will be missing the animation that the previous one had. Meaning, I have to go in and manually copy/paste the scale keyframes to apply to the new caption. On this same note, edited captions will often not be aligned with the previous captions, so I will have to go in and readjust their position on the timeline. Again, a huge time suck. Lastly, I would love to see a feature where you can have both two-line and single-line captions at the same time in the text editor. For example, I'll often times have sentences that would work best as two-line captions, but the rest of the clip is best suited for single-lines, or vice versa. Meaning, if I want to have a two-line caption in an otherwise single-line sequence, I need to go in and edit that one caption to be two-line, and then readjust everything I just mentioned in my previous notes. I hope you can take all of these notes into consideration in the coming updates, as I love this plug-in and want to help improve its features and accessibility.
